Communication at its most profound level is the giving of self in love. Consequently, good communications has always been at the heart of the Society of the Divine Word.
The founder of the Society of the Divine Word, St Arnold Janssen began his life’s work of awakening the missionary responsibility of the Church by publishing a popular newsletter, called The Little Messenger of the Sacred Heart.
Carrying on this tradition, the Australian Province of the Divine Word Missionaries produces a quarterly magazine, Society Matters, which brings to colourful life the stories of our missionaries and the people they serve from all around the world.
It also explores various missionary themes and offers a prayerful reflection for readers, supporters and benefactors.
Within the Province itself, a monthly newsletter keeps confreres informed of each other’s activities and various other occasional publications are distributed containing matters of missiological or theological interest.
St Arnold once said: "The pastor of souls must use every means which the signs of times dictate". For us, this means not only our publications, but good use of our website, the distribution of a monthly e-newsletter and a social media presence.
