We pray we can continue to work together for the good of humankind into the future. Therefore, we take seriously our obligation to clothe the poor, visit the sick and imprisoned and seek to improve the lives of those most in need. Thanks to our partners in mission, the SVD Australian Province has a proud history of supporting the work of Divine Word Missionaries in many countries across the world. The SVD principle of having the Generalate in Rome approve mission requests provides for transparency and ensures that the funds donated by our Partners in Mission goes to worthy projects to help the poorest of the poor. Our Province, through its donors, has also supported a number of emergency relief appeals to bring immediate, medium-term and longer- term assistance to communities devastated by natural disasters. Over the decades, the generosity of our friends and benefactors in the AUS Province has helped change the lives of many thousands of people, funding projects which assist in providing education, job skills and training, housing, health education and assistance, women’s skills training and empowerment, and self-sustaining agricultural and other micro-business initiatives. The Mission Office of the SVD AUS Province directs funds to a range of countries around the world as seen in the pie chart. A large proportion of funds in the past year has been directed to various parts of India, where the need is very great. Madagascar, Timor Leste and Chad also received significant distributions from our Overseas Aid Fund, for their life- changing projects.
