Nine young men renewed their temporary vows in the Divine Word Missionaries recently – an important step on their journey towards deeper, lifelong commitment to God through the SVD missionary life.
The students, who are studying at the SVD Aus Province’s formation house, Dorish Maru College, in Box Hill, made their renewal of vows on the vigil of the Solemnity of the Annunciation.
Some years ago I found in a Dutch catholic newspaper an article on a spiritual renewal centre in Helvoirt in the Netherlands province of Brabant.
Reading it, I slowly realized they were talking about our former SVD Noviciate house, where I entered the SVD as a novice.
The author wrote: “Stepping into the building, one can feel an atmosphere of prayer.” In other words, you can feel it is a holy place”.
Please join us as we pray for five of our young confreres who will take their Perpetual Vows this Saturday, March 14.
The Society of the Divine Word gives thanks to the Triune God for the lifetime commitment being given by Anthony HongZhou, Marianus Supardi, Michael PenFei Wu, Laurensius Wae Woda and Uili Uvea as they take their Perpetual Vows at St Paschal’s Chapel, Box Hill at 10am.
