Catholic guy set to inspire at Sacred Heart Preston

Parishioners at Sacred Heart Parish, Preston are gearing up to be inspired and uplifted when “The Catholic Guy” comes to lead them in a parish mission.

Bruce Downs and the Catholic Guy Team will present the mission from May 15 to 21.

Bruce and the Team, who host a weekly TV program on the Christian Channel, invite people to “experience the power of God in a real and relevant way through Scripture, music, and the arts”.

Parish Priest, Fr Bill Burt SVD, says parishioners have been told that they can expect to laugh, learn, reflect and be changed by this truly powerful Catholic experience.

“This is something new for us, but we’ve heard from others that this experience is really good and really inspiring,” he says.

Fr Bill says that Sacred Heart parish has about 350 people attending Mass across a weekend, but through the year the parish has an outreach of to up to 5000 people who come to the Church for weddings, baptisms and funerals.

“We see that outreach as real mission,” he says.

“My hope is that this parish mission will give a boost to our core community, to inspire them and enthuse them, and perhaps attract others too.

“After all, it’s because of our wonderful core community that we’re able to do this outreach to others.”
